WHO WE ARE
Senior Connections is a community-based non-profit organization serving the elderly population of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca Counties. Established in 2014, our Center is located in Schulenburg, Texas. Our weekly programs address the unique challenges seniors in our community face by promoting healthy aging through social interaction, mental stimulation, and nutritional meals. Meals are at the heart of all our programming! We pride ourselves on offering warm home-cooked meals four days a week. Our meals and membership are at no cost to our participants.

WHAT WE OFFER
Senior Connections offers a wide variety of activities to engage our members, such as, Dominoes, Cards, Bingo, Lunch & Learn Educational Series, Artful Seniors at ARTS for Rural Texas, and more to keep our minds active. Warm nutritious meals are served at all our programs!

WEEKLY PROGRAMS
Our Schulenburg and Satellite Senior Connections are open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mornings are filled with spirited banter over coffee, table games, cards, and dominoes, creating an environment where social interaction is second nature.

Around Noon, we serve our warm home-cooked meal. Many members enjoy baking and contribute to our program by donating a dessert at each meal.

After lunch, we host our “Lunch & Learn Speakers Series,” which brings community leaders and business owners into the Center to interact with our members directly. Topics relevant to our members include health and wellness professionals, financial and legal planning, technology educators, travel experts, art and culture presenters, and other community resource representatives. Our members are encouraged to ask questions to understand better what the business they represent offers. Once we wrap up the Lunch & Learn Session, our final activity of the day is - BINGO! Bingo provides entertainment and excitement for our members. The thrill and anticipation of winning a prize while enjoying the game's lively atmos

Organization goals
At Senior Connections, we love seeing our members stay active and connected. Every day, we're reminded that it doesn't take much to make a difference: a friendly conversation, a warm smile, and sharing a meal with good friends can turn someone's whole day around.

Our weekly programs bring older adults from across Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca, and Gonzales Counties together to enjoy good company and meaningful activities. Whether they're playing table games, creating art, or sitting down for one of our home-cooked meals, our members stay socially connected, keep their minds active, and build lasting friendships. That's what Senior Connections is all about.

In just three years, our membership has grown from 45 to more than 450, and the number of meals we serve each year has increased from 1,500 to nearly 7,500 in 2025. This year, we're on track to serve more than 11,000 meals. To us, those numbers represent much more than growth. They show the growing need for programs that help people stay active and healthy as they age.

As our programs have grown, so has our need for more space. We now have the opportunity to transform a long-vacant building in downtown Schulenburg into a vibrant community hub that will support all of our locations in Schulenburg, Weimar, Flatonia, and La Grange. This new space will give us room to grow, expand our programming, and better serve older adults throughout the communities we call home.

This new space will provide:

• A larger gathering area where members can safely and comfortably come together
• A flexible space and art gallery to showcase the creativity of our Artful Seniors
• A dedicated classroom for art classes, wellness programs, and trainings
• A commercial kitchen to prepare healthy meals for all program locations
• Capacity to expand programs locally and reach older adults in neighboring communities
• The space will be available for other community use after 3 pm and weekends
