Grants of up to $75,000 to USA, Canada, and International faculty researchers for projects related to sustainable agriculture. Proposals addressing new topics, understudied areas, and underrepresented communities are of special interest. Funding is intended for projects focused on local research and education needs. All activities should be conducted within the Western U.S. region.

Western SARE Sabbatical Grants provide an opportunity for faculty around the world to partner with researchers, agricultural professionals, and producers of the Western U.S. for conducting research, education, and Extension activities on sustainable agriculture.

The Western SARE AdministrativeCouncil funds proposals that present creative and innovative research and Extension/outreach approaches and practices that advance Western SARE goals and are economically viable, protect the environment, and are socially responsible. Western SARE Sabbatical projects must contain both research and education components; bring together, at the location where the sabbatical will be conducted, a team of local partners (researchers, students, agricultural professionals, and producers) to plan, implement, and disseminate the findings of the project; outline educational outreach plans for producers and agricultural professionals; establish mechanisms to build research, education, and human capacity at the Sabbatical Host Institution(hereafter Host Institution); and produce quantifiable scholarly and educational products for researchers, producers, and agricultural professionals.
