Grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 to USA Indigenous-based nonprofit organizations to protect Native lands and water resources against threats to the environment and their cultural vitality. Funding is intended for Native-led actions against unwanted development, incursions, and extractive industries as well as threats to sacred sites in Indigenous communities, lands, and territories.

Defenders and Water Protectors Program:
- Supporting Indigenous community-based organizations protecting Earth’s natural systems and ability to nurture and sustain life.
- Upholding Indigenous territorial sovereignty and self-determination, Native land stewardship practices, and the defense of sacred lands, waters, and species.

Potential projects may include:
- Peaceful direct actions and frontline organizing
- Sacred site protection
- Environmental education and issue advocacy
- Indigenous appropriate and traditional technologies

Grants range from $500 to $10,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Requirements -
- Leadership and Decision-making: A minimum of 80% Indigenous Board of Directors and also an Indigenous Executive Director
- Nonprofit Status: 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status, Fiscal Sponsorship, or another tax-exempt status (if operating within the United States)

The Seventh Generation Fund does not support: Individuals, Non-Native organizations, religious missionizing efforts, purchase of vehicles, heavy equipment, capital campaigns, or scholarship funds
