Grant to a USA nonprofit organization, public or government agency, organization, or institution for an activity, lecture, or program promoting kidney patient safety through advances in the management of healthcare systems. Eligible costs may include speaker accommodation and travel expenses, program materials, and distribution of kidney disease information and resources.

Eligible Expenses

The Jenny Kitsen Patient Safety Award may be used to support the planning, development and execution of a lecture, activity, or program provided by an expert(s) (e.g., healthcare professionals, researchers, patients) who have gathered a body of knowledge or experience related to patient safety and aim to disseminate that information/findings among a larger audience. Anticipated expenses may include speaker or subject matter expert fees; associated travel expenses if applicable; direct program expenses (such as attendee materials); and support for disseminating kidney disease-related safety information and results for others to use or apply in their organizations or clinics.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The following organizations are eligible to apply for the grant:
• 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations as determined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 170 of the U.S. Code
• Public and government agencies, organizations and institutions

The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) will not consider grant requests from:
• Individuals
• Political or lobbying organizations
• Fraternal, athletic or social organizations
• Religious organizations for religious purposes
• Private foundations
• Organizations located outside the United States
• Organizations that discriminate against others based on age, race, ethnicity, religious-preference, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities, etc.
