Grants to USA and territories organic farmers and handlers to defray costs associated with organic agricultural products. Qualifying producers may request funds to cover certification costs from state agencies. Producers may request assistance in the following categories: organic certification of livestock, crops, and wild crops, state organic program fees, and state program and handling fees.

Background:

  • OCCSP provides cost share assistance to producers and handlers of agricultural products for the costs of obtaining or maintaining organic certification under the National Organic Program (NOP). 

Reimbursable Costs:

  • Eligible costs include application fees, inspection costs, fees related to equivalency agreement and arrangement requirements, travel expenses for inspectors, user fees, sales assessments and postage.

Estimated Size of Grant:

For 2021, OCCSP will reimburse 50% of a certified operation’s allowable certification costs, up to a maximum of $500 per scope.

Term of Contract:

Producers may apply for cost share assistance for organic certification expenses paid between Oct. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility:
Certified organic producers and handlers who have paid certification fees during the 2021 and subsequent program year may apply for reimbursement of the incurred costs.

Non-Reimbursable Costs:
Ineligible costs include equipment, materials, supplies, transitional certification fees, late fees and inspections necessary to address National Organic Program regulatory violations.

Pre-Application Information:

Producers may apply for cost share assistance for organic certification expenses paid between Oct. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021. Applications are due Nov. 1, 2021.

OCCSP funds are limited and applications are paid on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications received after all funds are obligated will not be paid.
